Skills & Knowledge
Skilled herbalist – Myra knows local plants and their properties, having spent much of her youth helping her mother gather and prepare medicines.
Survival instincts – Life near the Whispering Pass has taught her to listen to the wind, watch animal movement, and track subtle environmental changes.
Quick learner – Though she has no formal education, she learns quickly from observation and practice, a trait that becomes vital as she grows more involved with Vear’s journey.
Strong connection to the land – She knows the terrain, the seasons, and the unspoken rhythms of Edson better than most adults.
Personality
Curious and perceptive – Myra is naturally inquisitive, unafraid to question what others accept. She sees past appearance and isn’t easily intimidated by things she doesn’t understand.
Grounded but brave – Though her life has been shaped by simple routines and hard work, Myra’s courage is rooted in practicality and compassion, not recklessness.
Independent-minded – She is strong-willed and does not blindly follow authority, even when pressured to. She often observes in silence before speaking, but when she does, her words cut to truth.
Empathetic – She has a deep sense of intuition about people’s feelings and motives. This makes her an emotional anchor in her community—and eventually for Vear.
Enden – In-Universe Origin & Meaning
Origin:The name Enden traces back to the Old Edsonian tongue, specifically from the root word Endora, meaning "the last fertile place" or
"the enduring valley." It was originally used to describe the lush, wind-sheltered lowlands near the Whispering Pass, where small
settlements clung to survival after the Age of Ash.
Over generations, Endora became Enden—a name passed down through the families who refused to flee or surrender when famine and war
overtook much of the continent. The Enden line was never noble, but it was respected—known for resilience, quiet wisdom, and loyalty to the land.
In the Narrative
Vear’s local guide and moral counterbalance – Myra serves as a grounded counterpart to Vear’s mythic presence.
She doesn’t fall into blind worship, but instead challenges him with thoughtful questions and quiet loyalty.
Witness to transformation – Through her eyes, the reader sees the human side of Vear—his burden, kindness, and longing.
As she slowly earns his trust, she becomes a rare confidant.
Catalyst for village change – Myra's bond with Vear helps inspire the village to move from reverent fear to active hope.
She becomes a quiet leader among her people.
Myra is force to wear the obedience collar by King Vezar, a sleek, slate-colored band of Authority technology worn around
Myra’s throat. Designed for control, it is seamless and metallic—cold to the touch, with embedded circuitry that monitors
emotional and neural activity. When it detects disobedience, violent intent, or attempts to remove it, it activates a pain
response: a sudden neural surge that causes physical collapse and temporary paralysis. The collar cannot be removed or tampered with without
triggering its defense mechanisms. It is a symbol of ownership and domination—beautiful and cruel, a leash disguised as jewelry. It renders
all commands from her controller absolute, enforcing obedience through pain, not persuasion.
Myra becomes Casmel – It is not a title given to Myra. It is a name she chooses—a wall, a weapon, and a mask. It is the identity she forges
in the aftermath of her soul breaking in the pit chamber. The moment she pulls the lever—watching innocent blood spilled by her own hand—marks
the death of the rebel girl who once dreamed of freedom. Myra becomes Casmel when she chooses survival over self. When she silences the voice
that once called for justice and begins to speak the language of power, cruelty, and obedience. It is the name of a woman who no longer flinches,
no longer trembles, and no longer mourns. Casmel is malevolent.
Myra/Casmel Throne - A narrow throne carved from darkwood and obsidian, trimmed in silver filigree and set just below the King's. Draped in
crimson velvet, it was more symbol than seat—less a place of power than a performance for the court. Myra does not ascend to the throne willingly;
she is compelled to do so due to King Vezar's influence over her (see obedience collar). However, after becoming Casmel, she employs it as a
representation of power and authority.
